What is Child Find?
Child Find is a process designed to identify, locate, and evaluate individuals (birth through 21 years of age) with disabilities who may need Special Education services.
Who can begin the Child Find Process?
A parent, doctor, teacher, relative or friend can call their local school district Child Find contact or their regional Education Service Center.
How much do services cost?
All services for qualifying children are available at no cost to the child or family.
Who may qualify for services?
Children from birth through 2 years of age with an auditory and/or visual impairment may qualify for services through ECI or your local school district.
Children from 3 through 21 years of age with the following disabilities according to federal and state criteria may qualify for services:
Auditory Impairment
Autism
Deaf-Blindness
Emotional Disturbance
Intellectual Disability
Multiple Disabilities
Other Health Impairment
Orthopedic Impairment
Specific Learning Disability
Speech/Language Impairment
Traumatic Brain Injury
Visual Impairment
Non-Categorical Early Childhood
